NC State Men’s Tennis Falls at Clemson, 5-2

No. 54 NC State grabbed two singles victories and another in doubles while falling 5-2 at No. 58 Clemson on Sunday, March 27. Dominic Hodgson and Ivan Sanchez Gomez each grabbed wins in singles play.

The loss sends the Wolfpack to 8-8 (0-4 ACC) on the year, while the Tigers climb to 14-5 (1-3 ACC).

Hodgson and Rob Lowe bested Zachary Rigsby and Yannick Maden in doubles, 8-6, but Clemson duos won at the other two spots to give the Tigers an early 1-0 team advantage.

Hodgson took just two sets to beat Derek DiFazio, ranked No. 106 nationally, 6-0, 6-3, while Sanchez Gomez dismissed Kevin Galloway, 6-2, 6-4.

Clemson took the other four courts.

NC State will play its next five matches at home in Raleigh. Weather permitting, all matches will be held outdoors at Pullen Park, starting with a bout against Wake Forest on Tuesday, March 29 at 3 p.m.
