Graham Signs with Belhaven Blazers Tennis for Fall 2009
Monday, 04/27/2009

Earlier this semester, Wesley Graham signed with the Belhaven Blazers men’s tennis program for the fall 2009 season. Graham is currently completing his sophomore year as a member of the Wildcat tennis team at Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Mississippi.

The son of Glenda and Ronnie Malcom of Columbia, Mississippi, Graham attended Columbia High School where he was a member of the tennis team. After graduating in 2007, Graham enrolled at Pearl River Community College on a full tuition tennis scholarship. During his freshman year, he competed at the number four singles position and the number two doubles position for the dual match season. This past season, Graham again competed at number two doubles, but moved up to the number three singles spot. Graham ended a competitive but successful year at the position, falling to the state champion in the semifinal round of the MACJC Men’s State Tournament. One of Graham’s favorite quotes was made by Vince Lombardi, “Winning isn’t everything, but the will to win is everything.” It’s that attitude, wanting to win, wanting to always improve, that has led to his rapid development as a collegiate tennis player and earned him this year’s PRCC Tennis Most Dedicated Player Award for his devotion and enthusiasm for the sport.

Located in Jackson, Mississippi, Belhaven College is a member of the NAIA, Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, and Mid-South Conference and sponsors thirteen intercollegiate sports. Graham is excited about the opportunity to continue his collegiate career and looking forward to becoming a part of the Belhaven Blazers tennis program. “I’m really looking forward to the next level of competition and being able to improve my game,” said Graham. While attending, Graham will pursue his degree in Sports Medicine and Workout Science.
