Pearl River Wildcats again just one match shy of claiming a team victory, this time falling to the Northeast Tigers 5-4.
In doubles, at No.1 Steven Bracey of Columbia and Roy Odom of Gautier claimed their first win as a doubles team by defeating Ben Ferrell and Matt Murphy 8-5. The Wildcats were unable to collect another doubles point, however, with Jordan Henry of Petal and Darnelle Sanford of Hattiesburg falling to Burt Wilkerson and Witt Lucas 8-6 at No.2, and Dustin Slade of Waveland and Ross Lee of Lumberton falling to Josh Bascomb and Ben Ford 8-6 at No.3.
In singles action, at No.1 Bracey fell to Wilkerson 6-2, 7-5. Odom moved into the No.2 position but was defeated by Lucas 6-0, 6-4. Henry moved back into his No.3 slot and defeated Murphy 7-6(8), 6-2. Sanford also back in his usual position at No.4 defeated Collin Holley 6-4, 6-2. At No.5 Slade defeated Bascomb 6-1, 6-2. At No.6, Lee fell to Ford 6-0, 6-4.
Due to the length of time required to finish the matches at Northeast, the previously scheduled afternoon match at Itawamba Community College had to be canceled. The Wildcats will be back at home March 31 to take on the Southwest Community College Bears at 10:00 a.m.
