Wildcats 4-0 with Win Over MGCCC Bulldogs

The Pearl River Wildcats defeated the Mississippi Gulf Coast Bulldogs 5-4 in their first away match of the season.  The win brings the Wildcats record to 4-0.

In doubles action, every match was close, and the Wildcats were only able to pull one of the three points.  At number one, Blake Johnson of Lumberton, Mississippi, and Steven Bracey of Columbia, Mississippi, fell to Kriss Baglais and Alex Drake of Gulf Coast 8-5.  At number three, Roy Odom of Gautier, Mississippi, and Dustin Slade of Waveland, Mississippi, also fell 8-5 to Gulf Coast's Taylor Thrash and Tyler Eggers.  The Wildcats collected their first point of the match at number two doubles with Jordan Henry of Petal, Mississippi, and Darnelle Sanford of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, defeating Lin Jacobson and Travis Ladner 8-4.

In singles, the Wildcats won four of the six courts to get the win for Pearl River.  At number two singles, Bracey defeated Drake 6-2, 6-2; at number three, Henry defeated Jacobson 7-6(4), 6-2; at number five, Odom defeated Thrash 7-5, 4-6, (10-4); and at number six, Slade defeated Eggers 7-5, 6-7(3), (10-8).  The only courts the Wildcats couldn't quite pull were number one singles, Johnson was defeated by Baglais 6-0, 6-0, and number four singles, Sanford was defeated by Ladner 7-5, 7-5.

The Pearl River Wildcats will travel to Raymond to play the Hinds Community College Eagles on Monday, March 8.  Match time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
