Wildcats Suffer First Loss of Season

The Pearl River Wildcats suffered their first loss of the dual match season to the Hinds Community College Eagles, falling 2-7.

In doubles, at No.1, Blake Johnson of Lumberton and Steven Bracey of Columbia fell to Hinds's Nikita Lisov and Misha Pecherkin 8-1.  At No. 2 doubles, Jordan Henry of Petal and Darnelle Sanford of Hattiesburg were defeated by Duffy Loel and Donnail Myles of Hinds 8-4, their first doubles loss of the season.  At No. 3 Roy Odom of Gautier and Dustin Slade of Waveland fell to Hinds's Rowe Rhette and Jeremy Howard 8-5.

In singles, the Sanford claimed the first point of the day for the Wildcats at No. 4 singles, defeating Myles 6-2, 7-5.  Slade was able to pull the second point for the team at No. 6 singles, defeating Howard 6-1, 6-0.  In other singles action, at No. 1 Johnson fell to Lisove 6-0, 6-0; at No. 2 Bracey was defeated by Pecherkin 6-1, 6-1; at No. 3 Henry was defeated by Loel 6-0, 6-2; and at No. 5 Odom fell to Rhette 6-4, 6-0.

The Wildcats will be on the road again this Friday.  In a match previously scheduled for Wednesday, March 10, the Wildcats will travel to Ellisville, Friday, March 12 to compete with the Jones County Junior College Bobcats at 12:00 p.m.
