Wildcats Sweep Holmes Bulldogs

The Pearl River Wildcats are now 2-0 for the season after sweeping the Holmes Community College Bulldogs 9-0 on Saturday, February 27, 2010, in Poplarville.

The Wildcats were able to sweep the Bulldogs for a 9-0 victory, dropping only one set for the whole team.  In doubles, the number one team of Blake Johnson of Lumberton, Mississippi, and Blake Johnson of Columbia, Mississippi, defeated Holmes's Tye Steele and Joseph Dees 8-6.  Jordan Henry of Petal, Mississippi, and Darnelle Sanford of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, defeated Holmes's Chris Houghton and Tanner McGraw at the number two position 8-1.  At the number three position, Roy Odom of Gautier, Mississippi, and Dustin Slade of Waveland, Mississippi, defeated Holmes's Josh Pinkard and Jeffery Arnold 8-1.

In singles, at number one, Johnson defeated Steele 6-1, 4-6, (10-8); at number two, Bracey defeated Dees 6-4, 6-0; at number three, Henry defeated Houghton 6-1, 7-5; at number four, Sanford defeated Arnold 6-1, 6-0; at number five Odom defeated Pinkard 6-0, 6-0; and at number six, Slade defeated McGraw 6-0, 6-0.

The Pearl River Wildcats Tennis Team will be in Biloxi on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, to face off against the Mississippi Gulf Coast Bulldogs at the Biloxi Tennis Complex at 12:00 p.m.  They will be back home in Poplarville on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, playing the Wolves of Cophiah Lincoln Community College at 1:00 p.m.
