USD Toreros suffer first loss of spring season
Deciding point comes at No. 4 singles
(San Diego, CA) – The 47th-ranked USD women’s tennis team dropped its first contest in six matches this spring with its hard-fought 4-3 loss to 48th-ranked William and Mary on Sunday. With the match tied at 3-all, the deciding point came at No. 4 singles where Carmen Pop edged USD’s Tammy Kevey, 7-6, 4-6, 6-4. USD freshman Juliette Coupez, playing at No. 1 singles, lost her first match of the spring season with a 6-2, 6-7, 6-1 loss to Katarina Zoricic who is ranked 103rd in the ITA singles rankings. With the loss USD falls to 5-1 on the year while William & Mary evens up it record at 5-5.
Next up for USD is its USD Invitational March 12-15. USD will host Furman on March 12th beginning at 10 am.
