 Nevada edges Toreros 4-3 in women’s tennis
USD falls to 7-2 on the year
 
(San Diego, CA) – The Nevada Wolf Pack dealt the No. 50 USD Toreros a 4-3 loss today at the USD West Tennis Courts. In a closely contested match, Nevada’s Aodhnait Lombard held off USD’s Alexandra Demidova in the final match of the day on court six, 0-6, 6-4, 6-3. Down 3-0 to start the match the Toreros battled back to knot the score at 3-all with wins from Tammy Kevey at No. 4 (6-1, 7-6 over Lais Ogata), Maria Raygada at No. 5 (6-4, 7-5 over Caroline Stevens) and Juliette Coupez (6-1, 6-7, 7-6 over Caroline Bailly). With the third and final set tied at 3-all, Lombard went ahead 4-3, then broke serve against Demidova in game eight to go up 5-3, and then clinched the match with her third straight win. The Wolf Pack earned the all-important doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3, both 8-6 victories. USD’s Tammy Kevey and Maja Sujica won at No. 2 doubles with an 8-0 win over Nevada’s De Vrye-Ogata. Nevada improves to 3-6 on the year; the Toreros fall to 7-2 and will next compete in the Barnes Tennis Center Invitational (March 18-20).
