San Diego, Calif. - Freshman Marite Raygada continued her impressive unbeaten streak Friday afternoon, as the #48 University of San Diego Women's Tennis team downed the Red Raiders of Texas Tech, 6-1, to wrap up third place in the Barnes Invitational. 

Playing at the friendly confines of the USD West Tennis Courts, Raygada earned her 12th win against Tech's Kerryn Potgieter in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0. Raygada has primarily competed in the No. 5 and No.6 positions this season and will look to go 13-0 on the season when the Toreros match up against USC Tuesday, Mar. 24th.

San Diego captured the doubles point, winning at No. 2 and No. 3. Senior Tammy Kevey and freshman Maja Sujica earned an efficient victory on Court 2 against Kerryn Potgieter and Stefanie Peana, 8-1. Clinching the point on Court 3, junior Justine Perl and Raygada defeated Simone Templeton and Kyla Coleman, 8-4.

The Toreros would win 5 of 6 singles matches. Kevey, with her second win of the day, downed Stefanie Peana, 6-0, 6-2. Raygada followed Kevey with her 12th win of the dual-match season. Sujica earned the clinch point for San Diego at No. 3, notching her second victory against Simone Templeton, 6-2, 6-2.

San Diego would go on to win the next two matches, as junior Samantha Mouly and freshman Juliette Coupez both won at No. 1 and No. 2. Mouly defeated Kelsey Garland, 6-4, 6-2, and Coupez topped Samantha Van Der Drift, 6-2, 7-5.

San Diego will look to earn their tenth win of the 2009 season when the go up against tough competition in #10 Univ. of Southern California on Tuesday, Mar. 24th at 1:30 p.m PT.
