Stanford Sweeps Ducks, 7-0

STANFORD, Calif. - The Oregon women's tennis team, like their male counterparts back in Eugene, struggled against Stanford, losing 7-0 at the Taube Family Tennis Center on Friday afternoon. Oregon falls to 9-11 this season while the No. 10 ranked Cardinal improve to 16-3, winning 11 of its last 12 matches.

Stanford swept the doubles and singles sessions on Friday. Tiebreakers were needed in two matches, otherwise all were decided in straight sets. 

In doubles play, Claudia Hirt and Stephanie Macfarlane pushed their No. 3 match to a tiebreaker but fell 8-7 (7-4). In singles play, sophomore Pavlina Smatova was defeated by No. 83 ranked Jessica Nguyen but the match went into a 10-point third set tiebreaker before being decided. 

The Ducks will stay in the Bay Area tonight before they battle Cal tomorrow.
